To ask for a thing, say the noun (with a number and counter if you like) plus 주세요, "please give". To ask someone to do an action, take the verb's 아/어 form and add 주세요.
Examples
- 물 한 병 주세요.
- One bottle of water, please.
- 계산해 주세요.
- The bill, please. (lit. please do the calculation)
- 잠깐만 기다려 주세요.
- Please wait a moment.
The mistake to avoid
Attaching 주세요 straight onto the dictionary form (기다리다 주세요) - you need the 아/어 form first: 기다려 주세요.
Where this fits in
음식과 주문, Korean A1: Order in a café, ask for things politely, talk about favorite foods, and ask for the bill.
