The largest family of Italian verbs ends in -are and takes one set of endings: drop the -are and add -o, -i, -a, -iamo, -ate, -ano. The stress stays on the stem in every form except the noi and voi ones, so it is parlo and parli but parliamo.
Examples
- Parlo italiano e un po' di francese.
- I speak Italian and a little French.
- Dove lavori?
- Where do you work?
- Studiamo insieme il martedì.
- We study together on Tuesdays.
The mistake to avoid
One -o is I and one -i is you: parlo and parli differ by a single letter and mean different people.
