To tell one person to do something, use the bare verb stem with no pronoun: Cas! Téigh! Fan! To tell a group, add -(a)igí: casaigí, fanaigí. The negative command uses "ná" in front of the verb.
Examples
- Téigh díreach ar aghaidh go dtí an droichead.
- Go straight ahead as far as the bridge.
- Cas ar dheis ag an solas.
- Turn right at the light.
- Ná déan dearmad ar an léarscáil.
- Don't forget the map.
The mistake to avoid
Using "ní" for a negative command — orders take "ná" (Ná téigh!), not "ní".
