For plans and predictions, add the endings -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont to the whole infinitive (dropping a final -e from -re verbs). Common verbs have irregular stems you must learn: aller → ir-, être → ser-, avoir → aur-, faire → fer-.
Examples
- Je partirai demain matin.
- I will leave tomorrow morning.
- Nous serons à Lyon en août.
- We will be in Lyon in August.
- Elle fera ses études à Paris.
- She will do her studies in Paris.
The mistake to avoid
After quand referring to the future, French uses the future too: "quand j'aurai le temps", not the present.
Where this fits in
Le futur & les souhaits, French B1: Parler de ses projets, exprimer ses espoirs et ses rêves, et faire des hypothèses avec le conditionnel.
