French offers a casual, a neutral and a formal way, and all three mean the same thing: rising intonation on a plain statement (Tu viens ?), est-ce que in front of it (Est-ce que tu viens ?), or inverting verb and pronoun (Viens-tu ?). Question words - qui, où, quand, comment, pourquoi, combien - go at the front.
Examples
- Tu parles anglais ?
- Do you speak English?
- Est-ce que vous habitez ici ?
- Do you live here?
- Comment vous appelez-vous ?
- What is your name?
The mistake to avoid
Inversion is for writing and formal speech; in conversation the intonation question is what people actually use.
