Finnish says you like from something. Pitää and tykätä both take the elative case, -sta or -stä: pidän musiikista, tykkään kahvista. The negative works the same way: en pidä siitä.
Examples
- Pidän klassisesta musiikista.
- I like classical music.
- En tykkää kylmästä säästä.
- I do not like cold weather.
- Mistä ruoasta sinä pidät?
- What food do you like?
The mistake to avoid
Pitää with the partitive means to hold, not to like - the case carries the meaning.
