The passive ending -taan or -daan has no named doer: täällä puhutaan suomea. In everyday speech the same form is how Finns say let us: mennään, hoidetaan, katsotaan. It is the ordinary way to propose something together.

- Katsotaan sitä huomenna.
- Let us look at it tomorrow.
- Suomessa puhutaan kahta kieltä.
- Two languages are spoken in Finland.
The mistake to avoid
The same form is both let us and the passive - context decides which.
