Most participles are built with ge- plus the stem plus t or d. But verbs that already begin with an unstressed prefix - be-, ver-, ont-, her-, er-, ge- - take no ge- at all: bezocht, verteld, ontmoet. Common strong verbs are irregular too: gegaan, geweest, gezien, gedaan.
Examples
- Ik heb het museum bezocht.
- I visited the museum.
- Wij hebben veel mensen ontmoet.
- We met a lot of people.
- Vorig weekend ben ik naar Parijs geweest.
- Last weekend I was in Paris.
The mistake to avoid
Never add ge- to these: bezocht, not "gebezocht".
