Danish splits the journey from the arrival. Til marks where you are heading: jeg går til lægen. Hos marks being at someone's place: jeg er hos lægen. The same pair covers friends and businesses: til frisøren, hos frisøren.
Examples
- I morgen skal jeg til lægen.
- Tomorrow I am going to the doctor.
- Jeg er hos lægen lige nu.
- I am at the doctor's right now.
- Med recepten kan du hente tabletterne på apoteket.
- With the prescription you can pick up the tablets at the pharmacy.
The mistake to avoid
Hos is only for people and their places, never for a town or a building on its own.
Where this fits in
Body, health & feelings, Danish A2: Talk about your body, common illnesses, and how you feel. Visit a doctor or pharmacy and describe symptoms.
