Danish plurals take one of three endings and which one is not predictable: most add -er, some add -e, and a few change nothing at all. A handful also change their vowel - en bog becomes bøger.
Examples
- Jeg har to brødre og tre søstre.
- I have two brothers and three sisters.
- Hotellerne er fulde.
- The hotels are full.
- To kaffe, tak.
- Two coffees, please.
The mistake to avoid
The plural is part of the word, like the gender - learn en bog / bøger together.
