Build the future by adding -é, -ás, -á, -emos, -án to the whole infinitive - the same endings for -ar, -er and -ir verbs. A handful shorten their stem instead: tendr-, podr-, saldr-, har-, dir-, querr-.
Examples
- Mañana iré al médico.
- Tomorrow I'll go to the doctor.
- ¿Vendrás a la fiesta el sábado?
- Will you come to the party on Saturday?
- Tendremos más tiempo el año que viene.
- We'll have more time next year.
The mistake to avoid
After cuando pointing to the future, Spanish uses the subjunctive, not the future: "Cuando llegues, llámame", not "Cuando llegarás".
Where this fits in
Future & wishes, Spanish B1: Talk about future plans, hopes and dreams, and hypothetical situations using the future, subjunctive, and conditional.
