Going to a person uses к plus the dative: я иду к врачу. Places use в or на plus the accusative: в аптеку. The person something is given or prescribed to also goes into the dative, with pronouns мне, тебе, ему, ей, нам.

- Завтра я иду к врачу.
- Tomorrow I am going to the doctor.
- Врач выписал мне таблетки.
- The doctor prescribed me tablets.
- Фармацевт посоветовал нам этот сироп.
- The pharmacist recommended this syrup to us.
The mistake to avoid
К is only for people: к врачу, but в аптеку for the building.
