The Russian imperative comes from the present stem plus -и or -й: идти gives идите, повернуть gives поверните. Use the -те form with a stranger. Direction words take до plus the genitive: до угла, до перекрёстка.
Examples
- Идите прямо и поверните направо.
- Go straight ahead and turn right.
- Дойдите до угла и поверните налево.
- Go as far as the corner and turn left.
- Извините, где находится вокзал?
- Excuse me, where is the station?
The mistake to avoid
Always use the -те form with someone you address as вы.
