Most Norwegian nouns add -er in the plural. Short neuter words often add nothing at all - et hus becomes hus - and a small group changes its vowel instead: en bok becomes bøker, en mann becomes menn.
Examples
- Jeg har to brødre og tre søstre.
- I have two brothers and three sisters.
- Hotellene er fulle.
- The hotels are full.
- To kaffe, takk.
- Two coffees, please.
The mistake to avoid
Short neuter nouns look unchanged in the plural: et hus, to hus.
