A yes/no question puts the verb at the front, with the subject straight after: Snakker du engelsk? For anything else, begin with a question word - hvem, hva, hvor, når, hvordan, hvorfor - and the verb follows it.
Examples
- Snakker du engelsk?
- Do you speak English?
- Hva heter du?
- What is your name?
- Hvor bor du?
- Where do you live?
The mistake to avoid
Norwegian has no "do" in questions - the verb moves instead.
