Korean has native numbers - 하나, 둘, 셋 - and Sino-Korean ones - 일, 이, 삼. Money, dates and minutes take Sino-Korean; counting things and the hour take native. A counter follows the number: 두 개, 세 명, 네 권.
Examples
- 이거 두 개 주세요.
- Please give me two of these.
- 전부 삼만 원이에요.
- It is thirty thousand won in total.
- 책 세 권을 샀어요.
- I bought three books.
The mistake to avoid
하나, 둘, 셋, 넷 shorten before a counter: 한 개, 두 개, 세 개, 네 개.
