Drop 다 from the dictionary form to get the stem. If the stem's last vowel is ㅏ or ㅗ add -아요, otherwise add -어요; verbs ending in 하다 become 해요. This one form covers both "I do" and "I am doing", so it is what you use for daily routines and habits.
Examples
- 저는 매일 일곱 시에 일어나요.
- I get up at seven every day.
- 보통 지하철로 회사에 가요.
- I usually go to work by subway.
- 주말에는 집에서 쉬어요.
- On weekends I rest at home.
- 저녁에 운동해요.
- I exercise in the evening.
The mistake to avoid
Forgetting the vowel contraction: 가다 becomes 가요, not 가아요.
