Attach -(으)ㄹ수록 to a verb or adjective stem to say that as one thing increases, so does another; the second clause usually carries 더. On its own, 갈수록 means 'increasingly, as time goes on'.
Examples
- 쓰레기가 늘어날수록 처리 비용도 커집니다.
- The more waste there is, the higher the disposal cost becomes.
- 편할수록 환경에는 부담이 되는 경우가 많아요.
- The more convenient something is, the more it tends to burden the environment.
- 이 문제는 갈수록 심각해지고 있어요.
- This problem is getting more serious as time goes on.
The mistake to avoid
It attaches to the stem, never to the polite form: 크다 becomes 클수록, not 커요수록; a consonant stem takes -을수록 (많을수록).
