To say "I think / it seems", put a modifier ending on the verb before 것 같아요: -는 for a verb happening now, -(으)ㄴ for a finished verb or a descriptive word, and -(으)ㄹ for a guess about the future. Koreans prefer this to a flat assertion, so use it when offering an opinion politely.
Examples
- 이 길이 더 빠른 것 같아요.
- This road seems faster.
- 밖에 비가 오는 것 같아요.
- It seems to be raining outside.
- 그 정책은 효과가 있을 것 같아요.
- I think that policy will be effective.
The mistake to avoid
Using -는 것 같아요 with descriptive words (좋는 것 같아요) - adjectives take -(으)ㄴ: 좋은 것 같아요.
Where this fits in
