Use komen uit for a country: Ik kom uit Spanje. An adjective in front of a noun almost always takes -e, and nationality words follow that: een Spaanse vrouw. Language names are capitalised, as they are in English.
Examples
- Ik kom uit Spanje.
- I come from Spain.
- Zij is Duits en ik ben Engels.
- She is German and I am English.
- Hij spreekt goed Nederlands.
- He speaks Dutch well.
The mistake to avoid
It is komen uit for origin - "ik kom van Spanje" means you have just travelled from there.
Where this fits in
Greetings & introductions, Dutch A1: Say hello, give your name, ask someone else's, and where they're from.
