To tell someone to do something once, take the verb's perfective (one-off) stem and add -τε: στρίβω → στρίψτε, στέλνω → στείλτε, συνεχίζω → συνεχίστε. A few very common verbs use the imperfective (present) stem instead — πηγαίνω → πηγαίνετε, whose perfective imperative is the irregular πάτε. For "don't" the imperative is impossible: use μη(ν) plus the -ετε form (μη στρίψετε).
Examples
- Στρίψτε δεξιά στη γωνία.
- Turn right at the corner.
- Στείλτε μου ένα μήνυμα όταν φτάσετε.
- Send me a message when you arrive.
- Πηγαίνετε ευθεία και μετά συνεχίστε ως την πλατεία.
- Go straight and then continue to the square.
- Μη στρίψετε αριστερά εδώ.
- Don't turn left here.
The mistake to avoid
After μη(ν) you must switch to the -ετε form — μη στρίψετε, never "μη στρίψτε".
